The Colorado State Rams have cause for celebration. They triumphed over Fresno State with 40-35 to mark their win in a bowl for a very long time. The last one was in 2001. The long wait was worth it when Gartrell Johnson made a 77-yard touchdown with a very limited time, less than two minutes, left in the game. Gartrell Johnson made a record in the Football Bowl Subdivision, a combination of yards (375) made rushing and receiving in a game after a season. The yard rushing that he made came close to that of P.J Daniels who was with Georgia in the 2004 Humanitarian Bowl. That same feat is also the second best in the history of Colorado State Rams. Billy Farris' throw to Rashaun Greer for a touchdown gave the Colorado State Rams the first lead. After which came the play of Sharrod Davis then on to Greer who reached the end zone untouched. That loss rounded out the difficult season for Fresno State whose players were ridden with injury. Colorado State Rams have players who have consistently shown prowess and has made it possible for them to get to the bowl. Gartrell Godfrey Johnson III has been given several recognitions in the past because of exemplary plays in the past. He is a member of the first team of the Midwestern Conference. It is said that the final two minutes of the game seemed unreal with Gantrell making a superb play which totally crashed any hopes of Fresno U for recovery. It appears that his legs never stop moving. He proved to be very tenacious. He received a direct snap from the center then went on to a 57 year gain and after Grant Stucker made an 18-yard touchdown. Johnson then ran another 31-yard which made it possible for Jason Smith a 29-yard field goal. Another 22-yard field goal was done by Smith after Johnson got a pass from Farris during the second quarter. Johnson later on was able to achieve a 100-yard run at halftime. He ran forty three yards more in the second half which proved that he really lived up to his nickname, "The Predator.' By the third quarter, he had already reached a total offense of two hundred thirty yards but it was in the fourth quarter that he made his first touchdown on that game. That touchdown lowered the lead of Fresno to 28-26. The most critical run was the one done near the end of the game which gave the Colorado State Rams a result of 40-28. Johnson recognized the Rams' superb offensive line as the primary factor which made such games possible. Other members of the team say otherwise. They wanted to give credit to whom it is due. They said that once Johnson has the ball, he exerts all efforts to make his team win and win they did. The figures he made were awesome and Johnson was at his top most form.

The Tigers haven't lost a match in the 14 games they have played at home, this season and are at 12th spot according to a ranking by Associated Press. The Clemenson Tigers is one of the four teams in the first division, yet to lose a match. Clemson coach, Oliver Prunell is riding with the success of his team, which can be the best basketball team since 89-90 era, if they defeat Alabama. If the Tigers defeat Alabama then they will have 15 straight wins at their home court, a feat which was previously achieved in ?89-?90. Tigers came from the back in two of the three games it played. But instead of panicking the team responded well to the strategies and the adjustments made by Prunell after the time outs. Against Miami, the Tigers had a poor start and were lagging 21-9, in the initial periods of the game, but after the time out, it was no stopping back for them and they went on a 15-0 run and took the lead which they never lost till the very end and won the match 91-72 victory. South Carolina's early jubilation also lasted when the Tigers overcame the 14 point lead and winning the match 98-87. Clemson also conceded an early lead against Temple, Charlotte, Illinois, Liberty and East Carolina but ended up winning the game. Prunell changed the strategy for the Tigers against Miami forcing them to the rim, which lead post players Trevor Booker, Raymond Sykes and Jerai Grant to control the game and attacked Miami with the press more. This lead the Tigers to have a season high of 22 turnovers out of which 16 came in the first half itself. After conceding an early lead in the game against South Carolina, the Tigers made a comeback. Strategies made were perfectly executed and the team adjusted and passed more to Booker, plus they went from a full-court pressure defense to a quarter-trapping defense. But now the Tigers have a tough challenge in the form of Alabama, which is playing as well as anyone in the country. The Crimson Tide are leading 10-3, and have won five straight games and defeated Georgia Tech in the last game with a score of 88-77. The Clemson Tigers will have to raise the level of their game and play really hard to continue their winning streak. Alabama Crimson Tide is relying heavily on its guard Ronald Steele with 13.7 points per game, guard Sergio Hillman with 13.7 points per game and forward Alonzo Gee with 14.7 points per game. Alonzo leads the team in rebounds and steals. Alonzo is big, has long arms and is very athletic. Prunell will have to make a game plan to check this Tide forward. The Tigers need to be well aware of his position on the court; he is great in running off and stealing the ball. But the Tigers need not panic at such a crucial game; they are well equipped to ride over the Tide. If Prunell comes up with a strategy to defend Gee, then it is very likely that the Tigers will stick to it and pull off the game. And that is exactly what the Tigers need to do to get themselves registered in the annals of the Clemson as the best team since 1989.

North Carolina enjoyed a lead of around 26 points in its first 13 matches. The Eagles completely outplayed them. It was Thye Tyrese Rice, playing in his second straight big game, who did the damage and top scored with 25 points. It was a very dedicated and a focused effort from the Eagles which proved their mettle as big time players. The Eagles are currently on a 10 game winning streak and are 13-2 overall. The eagles also are yet to be beaten in their home; they have a perfect 10-0 score at their own court. With a memorable win behind them, the Eagles will be a formidable force on the court against the Harvard Crimson. The two sides will be facing each other in a non-conference clash. The Crimson have improved on their points to 7-6 as a result of winning three of its last four games. Harvard which will be starting its Ivy League campaign against Dartmouth, defeated Santa Clara, 73-68 and the Eagles will be its last opponent for the non-conference this season. With just two losses this season, against Purdue and Saint Louis, and that too with a narrow margin, the Eagles will enter the court as favorites. Boston College owns a commanding 32-9 series lead over Harvard. The last clash between the two took place in 2005. The Crimson is not expected to give sleepless nights to the Eagles or its coach but its recent form against Santa Clara will surely spread worries in the Eagles camp. Out of the five starting players, four scored in double figures with Jeremy Lin, with an average of over 17 points per game this season and highest number of steals and assists in the team, again outshone others with his top score of 17 points, nine assists against only one turnover and five rebounds. He also recorded three steals. Drew Housman scored 16 points for the Crimson, and Doug Miller posted 15. Peter Boehm also chipped in with his 13 points. Harvard committed just six turnovers and earned a 17-10 edge in points from the foul line. If they don't respond well to the challenge thrown to them, by the stronger Dukes, then a 10-2 Duke run will climb to a 23-2 Duke run. The Dukes have created havoc on the court, this year. They not only defeated their opponents but left them with nothing at all. The Blue Devils don't only defeat their opponents, they demoralize them and leave them panting on the court. The Blue Devils, pulverized Virginia Tech with a stunning margin of 30-9 and against Xavier, currently ranked 16 in the country, they extended their 20-3 lead to 31 points just by the half time. They lost their nerves back then; otherwise they could have defeated the Devils. So it is all about keeping a cool head and not letting the Devils dictate the terms, they will try hard no doubt about it, but with a support from the home crowd, perfect execution of strategies and being composed the FSU can pull off an upset against the Dukes.
